Storm Beats The Crap Out Of IBM!-

Supercomputers are nothing compared to Storm

IBM has been making supercomputers for a long time now and they have a lot of experience in this domain. Their machines' computing power is huge, but it has been recently surpassed by new-comer Storm. It may sound as this "Storm" is a creator of such machines, but actually – it's not. It's a virus.

Thing is this virus has infected more computers than you could ever imagine, creating a botnet. I've seen this on ITNews: Expert on security, Matt Sergeant (chief anti-spam technologist with MessageLabs) has stated that the computing power of this botnet, not just surpasses one super computer, but the power of the world's top 500 supercomputers, all put together. IBM made machines occupy the first 7 ranks of the top and even more as you scroll down. This is just huge, imagine the power it has, and the fact that it's a cyber-criminal's to use!

Also, it has been stated that every day, they see 2 million computers in the botnet sending spam messages and this is only about 10% of the whole botnet. You don't have to be a math genius to figure out that there are about 20 million PCs infected. And they don't think it's stopping here, as this virus changes its look faster than we can say: "We just got infected by Storm because we were gullible enough to click on a link in a spam e-mail!"

They are just thinking about one great possible cyber-disaster. More computers are bound to get infected by the time winter gets here. And you know everyone is home for Christmas and the PC is usually turned on, people either reading cards, or listening to carols or trying out a new game they got for Xmas. Well, that may be a dangerous day, because there are bound to be more than 2 million computers online that day. And with that kind of power at their fingertips who knows what damage that hackers might cause?

They think that an end to this situation will be caused only if the hackers get busted, as this virus doesn't seem to be stopped. So, people, make sure you get an AV on your PC and don't click on dubious links, in order not to make this botnet go stronger, because there is nothing else that you can do about it – with the power they have, if they want to hack you, they will – just don't join 'em!
