Russia tests world's most powerful, eco-friendly bomb

New Delhi: Russia has tested the world's most powerful vacuum bomb. It's an explosive device unleashing a destructive shockwave with the power of a nuclear weapon.

The main destruction is inflicted by an ultrasonic shockwave and an incredibly high temperature.

The consumption of gases in the blast also generates a partial vacuum that can compound damage and injuries caused by the explosion itself.

The Russian military describes it as the world's most powerful non-nuclear air-delivered bomb. However, they are quick to add that the bomb does not contaminate the environment like a nuclear bomb would. The military says that all that is alive merely evaporates.

What's more, the country claims that the bomb or the test does not even violate any international agreement signed by Russia.

Channel One television said the new ordnance, nicknamed the "dad of all bombs" is four times more powerful than the US "mother of all bombs."

The bomb is the latest in a series of new Russian weapons and policy moves unveiled by the President.

The tests come amid the Kremlin's efforts to restore Russia's global clout and rebuild the nation's military might.
